History
The idea of bringing the beach where there is none comes from Saint-Quentin (Aisne). In 1996 for the first time, the city has set up pools and beach activities for its population. The objective was to give the opportunity to the inhabitants who do not go on vacation to enjoy the summer from their homes. Since then, this annual event has continued and expanded since larger cities such as Brussels or Paris have taken it up. Swimming in Paris is now possible. It was the example of Paris in 2002 that made this operation known.
