Arc de Triomphe Wrapped, Christo and Jeanne-Claude, 2021

Visible from September 18 until October 03, 2021, the packaging of the Arc de Triomphe has aroused the curiosity of many onlookers during its installation.

With the support of the Centre Pompidou and the Centre des monuments nationaux, this project required the use of 25,000 m² of recyclable silver-blue polypropylene fabric and 7,000 meters of red rope.

Beauty of the ephemeral, theimplementation of the work has been entirely self-financed through the sale of preparatory studies, drawings, collages, models, works of the 60s and lithographs, recently also an auction at Sotheby's and several exhibitions-sales.
The project has not received any public or private funding.

More than 6 million tourists came to admire this ephemeral work and about 700 million people were exposed to this event through the media (source: Observatory of the Paris Convention and Visitors Bureau (OTCP))
